Tips From Professional Florists

By Winnie Cox

Floristry is an exciting career because of its creative side. Everyday florists make different types of flower decorations for various occasions. Floristry however is not one-hundred percent creativity. This also requires the mastery of the principles of flower decoration and arrangement for florists to create a professional outcome.

So what does it take for a florist to achieve a successful floristry feature? When it comes to design elements and principles, there are three factors that florists take into account in order for the project to be successful. These include the design itself, the theme and the setting.

Design pertains to the way a florist chooses and uses materials to the best advantage so he/she can achieve a maximum visual appeal. In its technical sense, design pertains to colors, shapes, form and texture. To emphasize these key components of design, it's crucial for florists to achieve balance, proportion, rhythm contrast and dominance. All these elements are important to the outcome of any floristry project.

Texture refers to the substance of the design. Texture boosts the visual impact of the flower arrangement. It is of two types: actual and visual. Visual texture means people can "feel" the texture through their memory, thus reminding them whether the material is soft, spiky, or rough.

The thought of creating a budget plan can be perceived as a limitation by most florists. Every floristry feature that florists want to accomplish has its corresponding costs. Thus financial planning is necessary. Resourceful florists can still create exclusive and professional flower designs as long as their budget plans are realizable and their creative goals are clear and perfect for the budget.

Prioritizing customers' requests is also necessary. Florists create floral arrangements not only to pursue creative interests but also to help people achieve their dream wedding bouquet, make someone feel special and loved, send some comfort, or simply brighten ones day. Florists can also help people express affection for a deceased loved one.
